Kt Kingtronics Global electronic components sector to grow

A new report on the global semiconductor and electronic components market has forecast the sector to reach $628 million (£385.4 million) by 2015.

Carried out by IBISWorld, the Global Semiconductor and Electronic Components Manufacturing report highlighted the growth in components such as capacitors, resistors, LEDs, inductors and filters.

It revealed a compound annual growth rate in the sector of one per cent between 2006 and 2010 and revealed that sales of integrated semiconductors made up 53.4% of the market during this period.

Revenues totalled $430 million in 2010, but the market is set to grow by almost a third over the next four years, the report states.

Meanwhile, a report compiled by MarketResearch.com recently showed that the global market for automotive semiconductors is set to expand over the coming years.

"It is no surprise that one of the major drivers of the automotive industry over the years has been the rise of integrated electronics," an unnamed industry analyst stated.

Class III capacitors: A typical class III capacitor will change capacitance by -22% to +56% over a temperature range of 10 °C to 55 °C. It will have a dissipation factor of 4%. It will have fairly poor accuracy (commonly, 20%, or +80/-20%). These are typically used for decoupling or in other power supply applications.

There is a three digit code printed on a ceramic capacitor specifying its value. The value is given in picofarads (pF). A letter suffix indicates the tolerance:

Zener diode transfers current forward and backward, while traditional diodes are only capable of transferring current forward.

Many different electronic systems use Zener diodes to control their circui's voltage levels.

While there are several ways of doing this, Zener diodes provide efficient voltage regulation without damaging the diode itself.

How Zener Diodes Work
Zener diode acts like a regular diode as current moves in a forward direction in its circuit.

However, when a large enough voltage is applied to the diode in the reverse direction, it travels against the current from the output to the input.

Zener diodes can limit the amount of current that passes through them so that the voltage going backward limits the voltage going forward.

A capacitor is a passive electronic component that stores energy in the form of an electrostatic field. In its simplest form, a capacitor consists of two conducting plates separated by an insulating material called thedielectric.
